Job summary

The Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) seeks project-based qualitative researchers (1099 contractors) to support campus-wide studies on speech, academic freedom, and trust. Remote, part-time roles with a strong emphasis on professional, neutral moderation and rigorous data handling.

You’ll work with Zoom, interview one-on-one and in small groups, and contribute to memo writing and cross-participant synthesis. Prior freelance experience is valued and flexibility is needed to fit study windows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of applied qualitative research experience, including interviewing and small group moderating.
• Familiarity with campus life dynamics, institutional culture, and higher education contexts.
• Ability to synthesize interview data into clear summaries following CDI’s format.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual interviews using structured guides for high-quality video data.
• Apply research protocols consistently and flag risks or deviations.
• Produce clear, well-organized interview summaries with minimal rework.
• Synthesize interview data across participants to identify patterns and insights.
• Review large-scale document analysis to support triangulation.
• Tag and organize qualitative data using a coding framework.
• Submit research materials using CDI naming conventions and standards.
