Job summary

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Drone Operator to remotely operate unmanned aircraft in response to calls for service and active incidents in Florida. You will provide real-time aerial intelligence to deputies and command staff, perform safety inspections, and coordinate with dispatch for timely updates during emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• FAA Part 107 certificate required.
• Experience with drone operations in public safety is preferred.
• Familiarity with GIS and geospatial data.
• Ability to operate under pressure and communicate radio traffic clearly.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Remotely operate drones in response to calls for service and incidents.
• Provide real-time aerial intelligence to deputies and command staff.
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections for safety and compliance.
• Monitor airspace and maintain safe flight operations.
• Coordinate with dispatch to provide timely information during active incidents.
• Support events, disasters, and large-scale emergencies with drone deployments.
• Deploy and operate unmanned systems from command centers and incident locations.
• Inspect, service, and maintain deployed drone equipment.
• Manage digital evidence and fulfill public records requests.
