Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a motivated Project/Program Specialist 1 to provide specialized project and program support in a mission-focused environment. You will assist leaders in planning, organizing, and controlling resources to meet scope, schedule, quality, and budget.

The role covers cost estimating and analysis, schedule maintenance, risk management, and stakeholder communication, requiring strong organization and collaboration with technical and non-technical staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of project or program management principles and practices.
• Ability to support project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting activities.
• Understanding of project scope, schedule, budget, and risk management concepts.
• Experience with documentation and reporting tools (Word, Excel, Project).

Responsibilities

• Support project and program managers in planning, organizing, and controlling resources and processes to achieve project objectives.
• Assist with development and implementation of work packages and project deliverables.
• Support cost estimating, cost analysis, budget tracking, and cost control activities.
• Assist with schedule development, maintenance, reporting, and monitoring activities.
• Monitor project activities and provide analysis, status reporting to leadership.
• Coordinate with management to ensure resources are available and qualified.
• Identify potential project risks and assist in mitigation strategies.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation communicating status and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with Laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster a safe, secure, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
