Job summary

Mercor in Orem, UT is seeking a Process Engineer to lead conceptual design for Cryogenic Carbon Capture projects. The role involves autonomous work on equipment design, process simulations, and collaboration across engineering teams.

You will support feasibility studies, develop PFDs/PDs, and contribute to control system architectures, with opportunities to engage in prototype operations and scale-up activities.

• Experience in applying first principles of chemical engineering to real systems.
• Proven teamwork and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver tasks on schedule.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for internal and external stakeholders.
• Interpersonal skills to collaborate with other engineering disciplines and customers.
• Knowledge of cryogenic process technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support process development for Cryogenic Carbon Capture using Aspen Plus/HYSYS and Aspen EDR.
• Simulate steady-state and transient processes to generate heat and material balances.
• Work with clients and engineers on feasibility, preFEED and FEED studies.
• Prepare process equipment data sheets and equipment lists.
• Prepare Process Flow Diagrams and assist with P&IDs.
• Assist in wiring, loop drawings, and control system architectural drawings.
• Provide process data to mechanical engineers and vendors for sourcing.
• Check work performed by other Process Engineers.
• Assist in Start-up and Operating Manuals and experimental work.
• Develop and implement industrial-grade process control (MPC, HMI) when applicable.
