Job summary

Echelon Risk + Cyber is seeking a Risk Advisory Proactive Incident Response Intern to help build plans, playbooks, and exercises for client engagements in a remote USA setting.

You will learn how incident response readiness connects to risk and business continuity while collaborating with advisory, defensive, and offensive security teams. The internship is part of the Summer 2027 program, with ~20–25 hours/week and compensation of $15–$20 per hour.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in incident response and cyber preparedness.
• Currently pursuing a degree in IT, Cybersecurity, CS, Business, or related field.
• Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication for technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of incident response plans, playbooks, and runbooks aligned to NIST SP 800-61.
• Design tabletop exercises, scenario research, and facilitator materials.
• Take notes during exercises and help prepare after-action reports.
• Research threat actors and map scenarios to MITRE ATT&CK.
• Assist with incident response readiness assessments and communications procedures.
• Draft and update materials such as contact lists and severity matrices.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery documentation.
