Qualifications

• Minimum education: GED or high school diploma.
• Licensure/certification: CCS, CPC, BCHH-C, RHIA, RHIT, or HCCS from CCB; certification required within one year of hire if not already held.
• Experience: 2 years related experience preferred; familiarity with anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Code as assigned from review of medical record documentation.
• Monitor coding and billing performance; resolve denials due to coding errors.
• Review charges and rebilling as needed to resolve denials.
• Advise providers on documentation and billing policies; obtain clarification when documentation is ambiguous.
• Educate providers and office staff on documentation, coding and billing changes.
• Stay updated on coding rules; attend seminars and review coding publications.
