Job summary

Oregon Community Credit Union (OCCU) is seeking a Principal Security Engineer to enhance our security posture across endpoints, servers, networks, and software. The role is remote and collaborates with Technology Services and Information Security to implement secure, reliable systems and drive security initiatives.

You will lead hands-on security engineering, vulnerability management, and policy enforcement while guiding teams and contributing to disaster recovery and business continuity

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in technical cybersecurity with emphasis on endpoint protection and network security architecture.
• Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27000 series, and CIS Controls.
• Experience with endpoint protection platforms such as Cisco AMP, CrowdStrike, or Symantec Endpoint Protection.
• Knowledge of network security technologies including firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience with cloud security principles and technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft systems and application technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with scripting languages and automation tools.
• Experience working in ITIL environments including change control and configuration management.
• Knowledge of GIAC Security Operations and monitoring platforms (Syslog, Splunk, NetFlow, WhatsUp Gold).

Responsibilities

• Partner with Technology Services and Information Security to implement security solutions and enforce patching, vulnerability mitigation, and policy compliance.
• Implement approved security solutions across endpoints, servers, systems, and services.
• Respond to findings from security assessments and audits, mitigating identified risks.
• Develop and enforce OS and network hardening baselines.
• Contribute to new security platform deployments and security strategy.
• Maintain secure, reliable systems by addressing production incidents and outages.
• Provide technical guidance and training on security best practices to the tech teams.
• Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
