Job summary

Legion is seeking a Principal Rust Engineer to build and maintain core AI platform infrastructure. The role emphasizes Rust expertise, production-grade backend systems, and collaboration with ML teams to enable scalable workflows.

The position is remote in the USA, with a government contract requiring US citizenship or a Greencard. Candidates should have 15+ years of software and platform engineering experience and strong modern DevOps familiarity.

Qualifications

US Citizenship or Greencard is required due to US Government contract requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
15+ years of software and platform engineering experience.
Experience in Rust, with expertise in designing and developing high‑performance systems.
Experience building platform infrastructure and backend systems that serve multiple products and teams.
Familiarity with Kubernetes and DevOps practices is a plus (preferred).
Experience with AI/ML workflows and scalable data systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Design and develop foundational components and frameworks for our AI platform.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create platform solutions for developers.
Maintain knowledge of design patterns and technologies to attract developers to the platform.
Work with ML engineers to support ML workflows and enterprise execution.
Provide production support and troubleshooting to ensure platform reliability.
