Job summary

The Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB), a Munich Re subsidiary, seeks a Principal Risk Engineer for a remote role to serve the chemical, petrochemical, LNG, pipeline, and terminal sectors. You will apply your process engineering, maintenance, reliability, and fire protection expertise to evaluate facilities and deliver practical recommendations that improve resilience and operational performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required or counted for 5 years of experience.
15+ years experience in operations, maintenance, inspection, insurance engineering, and/or repairs of process equipment at high value/risk occupancies.

Responsibilities

Travel to client sites and gain exposure to industrial processes and technologies.
Evaluate equipment operations, maintenance, fire protection, and business interruption exposures; assess risk.
Partner with plant leadership and operations teams to identify and mitigate risk.
Provide practical recommendations to improve reliability, asset integrity, and operational performance.
Prepare risk evaluation reports of sites.
Perform desktop engineering evaluations to support underwriting decisions.
Collaborate with HSB subject matter experts; contribute to engineering standards and training.
