Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to advance claims analytics through advanced statistical and machine learning models. You will lead modeling efforts across fraud detection, severity prediction, and risk scoring, and partner with AI Engineering to deploy solutions at scale.

You will mentor junior data scientists, translate complex findings for business leaders, and help shape Sedgwick’s enterprise AI strategy by exploring new techniques and data sources.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in data science or a related quantitative field.
• 8–12+ years of data science or analytics experience.
• Deep expertise in ML algorithms and predictive analytics.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R.
• Experience with large enterprise datasets.
• Experience deploying models to production with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of ML models to improve claims outcomes and efficiency.
• Serve as technical authority for modeling initiatives including fraud detection and risk modeling.
• Develop predictive models using structured and unstructured data.
• Architect modeling pipelines using techniques like gradient boosting, deep learning, NLP, and anomaly detection.
• Collaborate with AI Engineering to productionize models and deploy them at scale.
• Mentor junior data scientists and translate findings for business leaders.
