Job summary

ButterflyMX is seeking a Principal/Staff‑level engineer who leads AI‑driven development. You will own end‑to‑end product delivery using AI agents, Claude Code, and a stack centered on TypeScript services, MongoDB, and cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.

You will partner with Product and Design, drive requirements to implementation, review agent outputs for quality, and push for secure, production‑read‑y software. Remote, globally distributed team, high ownership expected.

Qualifications

• Significant experience operating at the Staff, Principal, or equivalent engineering level, with 8+ years of professional software development experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and Design to understand requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
• Take approved product initiatives from business requirements through design, implementation, deployment, and operation.
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, testable code with a focus on reliability, security, and user experience.
• Operate an AI-native development environment using Claude Code and multiple agents in parallel.
• Maintain exceptional engineering quality by reviewing AI-generated code and ensuring proper testing and architecture.
