Job summary

Protingent is seeking a Primary Heat Transfer (PHT) Component Engineer for a contract opportunity. The role oversees design and manufacture of first-of-a-kind heat transfer components, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring supplier deliverables meet technical and schedule requirements.

The candidate will apply ASME/ASTM/IEEE/ NFPA design codes, manage drawings and specifications, and lead testing programs for component qualification.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university.
• 10+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.
• Experience with component design and manufacture of rotating machinery or shell and tube heat exchangers.
• Supplier coordination and project management experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and perform analyses.

Responsibilities

• Oversee first-of-a-kind large nuclear fluid pumps or shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to meet scope, performance, and schedule.
• Provide oversight to partners and subcontractors on mechanical component designs.
• Direct supplier projects, ensure delivery of data and technical reviews.
• Coordinate interfaces between Company, partners, and project teams for cohesive design.
• Identify and resolve technical issues and risks; inform engineering and PM.
• Apply correct design codes (ASME, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, etc.) in component design.
• Maintain design activity schedules and integration with plant delivery.
• Create and manage drawing packages (P&IDs, 3D models, interface drawings).
• Develop and maintain component requirements and specifications.
• Propose and oversee testing programs for component qualification.
• Generate design packages for systems and equipment.
