Job summary

Stem, Inc. is seeking a Power Plant Operations Engineer to join the Network Operations team, responsible for operating and optimizing Stem’s portfolio of BTM and FTM energy storage systems. You will build strong relationships with OEMs, troubleshoot incidents, and drive data-driven improvements.

The role supports remote or Broomfield, CO work locations, with travel as needed. A Power Electronics background and hands-on engineering mindset are key for success.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 1-3+ years’ experience with systems that incorporate batteries, solar, and power conversion.
• Aptitude to quickly learn new systems/technical applications.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented personality, demanding high quality performance from self and colleagues.
• Basic knowledge of network communication architectures and protocols.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and Stem technical personnel in high stress situations.
• Experience with Jira & Confluence, SQL, Python, Linux/ command line, Big Data visualization, relational databases are a plus.
• Knowledge in electrical power and metering systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and troubleshoot ESS equipment and operational incidents.
• Collaborate with Product Development Team to ensure operational sustainability during NPI.
• Create KPIs to analyze and discover issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop tools and processes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with field technicians during installation and issue resolution.
• Lead multiple ad hoc technical teams in high uptime environments.
• Train and support Tier 1 team on new systems and projects.
