The Center for Insurance Policy and Research (CIPR) at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) seeks a postdoctoral researcher for a full-time/temporary remote position based out of Kansas City, MO, with possible offices in New York City or Washington, DC. This one-year appointment may extend for another year based on first-year evaluation.

We seek candidates in economics, finance, risk management and insurance with strong data analysis and econometric skills.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. completed or expected by fall 2026 in economics, finance, risk management and insurance, or related field.
• Strong data analysis and econometric/statistical modeling skills required.
• Proficiency in SQL, R, Python; familiarity with SAS, Tableau and GIS is preferred.
• Ability to publish in peer‑reviewed journals and present results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct postdoctoral research on risk management, insurance and regulation.
• Collaborate with CIPR researchers and NAIC staff on ongoing projects.
• Present findings in written and oral form; contribute to policy discussions.
• Publish research in peer‑reviewed journals and participate in conferences.
