Position Overview

We are seeking Full-time, Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Philadelphia ATCT (PHL) in Philadelphia, PA. The role involves supporting air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Job Description

The RPO acts as the pilot and other controllers in the Air Traffic Controller training simulator. Responsibilities include operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system to emulate pilot actions and remote ATC communications during training exercises. RPOs receive voice commands, input data into the system, translate information into ATC terminology, and respond via the VCS using proper phraseology.

The candidate must complete certifications in Classroom (airspace and procedures test) and Lab (performing as a Remote Pilot Operator).

About the FAA

The FAA ensures high safety and professionalism in air traffic control, employing over 14,000 controllers who safely manage over 50,000 aircraft daily in the NAS. The FAA trains new controllers and provides recurrent training, utilizing contractor services across U.S. ATC facilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• High school diploma or equivalent, basic computer proficiency, ability to interpret diagrams and manuals, clear communication skills

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience in multidisciplinary teams (e.g., Multimedia Developers, QA, Instructional System Designers, Subject Matter Experts, Instructors)
• Certification and experience in ATC simulation labs (Tower, TRACON, or En Route) are strongly desired
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 (desired)
• Team-building skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Familiarity with current technological tools (tablets, notebooks, applications)
• Experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology (basic)
