Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Pharmacy Prior Authorization Coordinator (Pharmacy Technician III) to ensure timely drug therapy authorizations, align with payer criteria, and support patient care.

The full-time role (Mon–Fri, 9:00am–5:30pm PT) offers potential for hybrid or remote work. WA state tech certification and 2 years pharmacy experience required; strong data, EMR, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Washington state pharmacy technician certification.
• 2 years pharmacy technician experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft suite.
• Clear, professional communication (verbal/written).
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Familiar with drug names and indications.
• Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex duties within the pharmacy department.
• Interpret, evaluate, and summarize information and datasets.
• Communicate with stakeholders inside and outside the department.
• Develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
• Work independently and in teams to complete tasks.
• Document information clearly and concisely.
• Generate and present reports to Pharmacy Ops Manager or Director of Pharmacy.
• Determine benefit limits and secure insurance approvals for specialty medications.
• Train and educate staff on billing functions.
• Assist with weekly/monthly billing reports and reconciliation.
