This role applies insurance rules and guidelines to support underwriting decisions within the company philosophy, including training through the underwriter program and an initial in-person start before potential remote work options.

The position emphasizes learning coverages, reading policies, assembling information, and analyzing risks while communicating with agents and completing training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty underwriting.
• Ability to organize data, multi-task and make decisions independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Ongoing development through approved educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Learn various insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy and procedures to inform underwriting decisions.
• Read, interpret and react to policies, forms and endorsements for correct application.
• Assemble information, form opinions and clearly express decisions using sound judgment.
• Analyze loss experience, financial conditions and risk characteristics.
• Acquire working knowledge of underwriting department support sections.
• Communicate effectively with independent agents and associates.
• Complete the Company underwriter training program.
