Job summary

Children’s Mercy Kansas City seeks a Medical Director of Teleradiology to lead clinical, operational and strategic efforts in a distributed pediatric imaging service. The director ensures high‑quality, timely, and safe interpretation of pediatric imaging studies delivered through remote platforms, while advancing standardization and collaboration across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Diagnostic Radiology.
• Fellowship training and additional certification in Pediatric Radiology.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in relevant states.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in pediatric radiology.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in radiology operations, quality, and program development.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pediatric imaging interpretations via teleradiology for quality and consistency.
• Establish evidence-based protocols and pediatric reporting guidelines.
• Provide expert consultation to referring clinicians, radiologists, and care teams.
• Support subspecialty coverage models to ensure 24/7 pediatric imaging.
• Lead the design and optimization of teleradiology workflows.
• Collaborate with IT, PACS, and telehealth for secure imaging transmission.
• Monitor turnaround times, report addenda, peer review, and provider satisfaction.
• Develop staffing models for remote pediatric radiologists and cross-coverage.
• Direct quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure regulatory licensing compliance across states.
• Promote radiation safety and appropriate imaging utilization for pediatric patients.
• Participate in department peer reviews and quality conferences.
• Identify opportunities to expand teleradiology services and integrate AI.
• Provide mentorship and education for trainees and staff.
• Foster relationships across onsite teams, subspecialists, and partners.
