Job description

Provides support to the patient care team by offering remote continuous observation of multiple patients to ensure safety and prevent injury. Navigates and retrieves information from the electronic medical record and communicates with healthcare team members. Must have the ability to concentrate in a busy environment. Reports to Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, Administrative Manager, or Staff Nurse.

Note: This is not a remote position; it will be located on campus.

Principal Job Functions
  • Commits to the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.
  • Provides remote continuous observation of patients to ensure safety and prevent injury.
  • Responsible for one-on-one direct observation for patients at high risk of injury due to confusion, delirium, self-destructive behavior, or falls.
  • Manages multiple responsibilities and urgent situations effectively.
  • Uses monitoring technology proficiently.
  • Navigates and retrieves information from the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborates effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Notifies the clinical care team of any changes in patient condition or self-harm attempts.
  • Continuously monitors patients, keeping them in full view.
  • Uses respectful verbal cues to elicit patient cooperation.
  • Engages in general conversation or distraction activities if desired by the patient.
  • Communicates patient concerns during shift changes.
  • Alerts bedside staff to monitor quality issues.
  • Maintains documentation as per procedures.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Based on federal criteria, characterized as sedentary work requiring exertion up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
