Qualifications

• Substitution: Associate/Bachelor degree may substitute for general experience.

Responsibilities

• Bills out patients on appropriate claim forms and follows up on accounts.
• Files claims and re-files claims if not settled within 60 days.
• Works with payors to obtain payments and with departments to correct charges.
• Maintains confidentiality and handles inquiries by phone or correspondence.
• Interviews patients to determine ability to pay and discusses charitable care options.
• Prepares journal entries for account adjustments and reinstatement when needed.
• Adheres to hospital policies and participates in required in-services.
