Job description

A well-established intellectual property law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution Paralegal to support attorneys in managing U.S. and international patent filings. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in both domestic and foreign patent processes.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and file U.S. provisional / non-provisional and international (PCT) patent applications.
  • Manage client-specific and personal dockets, ensuring timely response to deadlines.
  • Draft and file various USPTO documents, including IDSs, Office Action responses, Assignments, Declarations, and POAs.
  • Coordinate international filings with foreign associates.
  • Conduct patent searches and compile prior art references.
  • Maintain and update patent portfolios and communicate with clients, inventors, and patent examiners.
  • Ensure compliance with USPTO rules and firm procedures.
  • Review incoming correspondence and extract relevant information from USPTO, PCT, and foreign databases.

Qualifications :

  • Experience in Patent law in a midsize law firm.
  • Paralegal certification or degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of USPTO procedures, Patent Center / EFS-Web, and PCT / foreign filing processes.
  • Proficiency in docketing tools (e.g., CPI, Anaqua, Foundation IP) and legal research software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and patent / legal software.
  • Strong client service orientation with keen attention to detail.
