Job summary

Protect Democracy is seeking Paralegal & Litigation Specialists with 3+ years of federal civil filing experience to support its impact litigation and legal advocacy projects aimed at protecting democracy. Remote work is available nationwide in the United States, with travel required periodically.

You will manage case files, draft pleadings and memos, coordinate court filings, and assist with discovery, while engaging with clients and external stakeholders in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of filing experience in civil litigation, including federal rules of civil procedure familiarity.
• Ability to prepare, finalize, and file pleadings; cite-check and Bluebook; draft discovery materials and administrative docs.
• Strong writing, researching, editing, and proofreading skills are essential.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support litigation by managing and organizing case files and documents.
• Prepare and finalize legal memos and pleadings; coordinate court filings.
• Help lead the discovery process and draft related memoranda and reports.
• Cite-check, Bluebook, fact-check, and assist with drafting court filings and public-facing documents.
• Engage professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and partner organizations.
• Draft external communications including press releases, social media, talking points, emails, op-eds, and blog posts.
• Coordinate logistics for calls and draft internal-facing communications.
• Project manage components of litigation projects and track progress toward goals.
• Maintain information management systems across impact teams.
