Job Description

The Rotational Hotel Pantry Cook position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, completion of production sheets and with other associated food service activities. This position will support or “cold cook” station, assisting with the preparation of cold sandwiches and salads for our grab-n-go program.

This is a rotational position in Bethel, AK supporting the Qavartarvik Customer Lodge. The rotation schedule will be 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. Lodging and three meals per day provided. The point of hire origin is Anchorage, AK and the YKHC Service Area.

Responsibilities

  • Properly, safely, and efficiently prepare food products while following standard food-handling procedures.
  • Follows assigned menu and recipes.
  • Performs all cold line food production duties assigned with specific items determined by assigned shift.
  • Preparing cold food items such as salads, cut fruit, sandwiches and cold desserts.
  • Review the needs of the day with the supervisor(s), completes production sheets, and verify supply needs and availability.
  • Attends daily CPM (Culinary planning meeting).
  • Attends CARES weekly meetings and participates.
  • Responsible for quantity and quality control in food production as well as overall sanitation of assigned areas.
  • Ensure work areas are thoroughly cleaned and organized prior to the end of every shift, providing a seamless transition to the next shift or rotation.
  • Follows proper rotation procedures for produce and dairy products.
  • Maintains food production equipment and storage areas following proper sanitation, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Has ability to recognize and use proper PPE for the job tasks.
  • Follow all safety policies, requirements, and training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of pantry cooking or relevant experience.
  • Cleaning and maintaining food service equipment.
  • Food Handler card, Alaska Food Workers card, or ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference given to candidates with lodging industry experience.
