Position Summary

GLS is seeking professional Remote Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) who are fluent in two or more languages (including English) to provide real-time telephonic interpretation services for clients across various industries. This role supports limited-English proficient individuals and ensures accurate and culturally competent communication.

Key Responsibilities

Provide consecutive interpretation services over the phone between English and target language(s).

Maintain accuracy, clarity, and impartiality during interpretation sessions.

Handle calls related to medical, legal, social services, education, customer service, and government inquiries.

Follow GLS protocols for confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism.

Log interpreting assignments and time accurately using GLS scheduling and reporting systems.

Participate in ongoing training to meet quality and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

Fluency in English and at least one other language.

Minimum of 1 year of professional interpreting experience (preferred).

Strong understanding of interpreting ethics, standards of practice, and confidentiality.

Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.

Reliable internet connection, headset, and a quiet, distraction-free work environment.

Must be authorized to work as an independent contractor in the U.S.
