Job summary

Evolent is seeking a Field Medical Director, MSK Surgery, to join a mission-driven team in a remote role. You will review complex Hip/Knee/Shoulder cases, provide clinical rationale, and collaborate with physicians to ensure appropriate utilization and URAC/NCQA guidelines, in a non-clinical setting that supports work-life balance.

Qualified candidates have MD/DO/MBBS, active board certification in Orthopedic Surgery, unrestricted license, and strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS degree required or equivalent.
• Active Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in medicine or required specialty.
• Licensure in the state of residence and any business needs.
• No disqualifying exclusions from healthcare programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Field Medical Director for MSK Surgery within utilization management.
• Discuss determinations with physicians and provide clinical rationale for appeals.
• Ensure documentation aligns with URAC/NCQA guidelines and internal policies.
• Assist Initial Clinical Reviewers and support research questions as needed.
• Participate in ongoing training and maintain timely communications.
