Job summary

Astellas is seeking a Clinical Development Physician, Ophthalmology (Medical Director) to guide trial design and safety oversight from Northbrook, IL. The role coordinates with Medical Lead, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Operations, ensuring trial integrity and patient safety across studies in ophthalmology.

The position requires ophthalmology residency and 8+ years in drug development, with 5+ years in clinical development.

Qualifications

Medical degree with ophthalmology residency and ability to read and interpret ocular images.
Strong scientific writing skills with experience drafting study documents.
Experience analyzing, synthesizing, and communicating clinical trial data.
Proficiency with ICH/GCP guidelines and related regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Design and advise on the clinical development plan aligned with asset strategy.
Provide medical oversight of trials and safety monitoring plans.
Review eligibility criteria and SAE narratives with regulatory reporting.
Lead training of team members and collaborators on trial safety and design.
