Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an experienced Oncology Data Specialist to oversee quality assurance and educational needs of the Cancer Registry. You will monitor data quality, analyze QA results, and implement improvements while training new staff and contractors.

The role requires staying current with cancer coding standards and collaborating with leadership. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in an oncology data setting, deep registry knowledge, and experience teaching in a registry

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Five-plus years as Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) in hospital or central registry.
• Excellent knowledge of Cancer Registry data and coding rules.
• Experience in education/teaching within a Cancer Registry.
• Experience with computerized cancer registry databases.

Responsibilities

• Monitor data quality within the Cancer Registry.
• Analyze QA data for accuracy and completeness; identify improvements.
• Implement changes to data collection to resolve issues.
• Train new employees and trainees.
• Lead Cancer Registry QA Committee meetings.
• Collaborate with Cancer Registry Manager.
• Maintain compliance with accreditation standards and mandated data requirements.
• Prepare reports and present quality metrics.
