Job summary

Mercor is seeking PDF annotation and transcription experts fluent in Odia to join a remote contract role. You will annotate, transcribe, and verify Odia documents with exact character-level accuracy for AI data projects.

Responsibilities include sourcing Odia PDFs, bounding regions, linking to figures/tables, recording metadata, and performing peer reviews with another Odia expert. Prior annotation or translation experience is preferred, and familiarity with OCR or MTPE is a plus.

Qualifications

• Native Odia speaker with full command of the script.
• Experience in annotation, transcription, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
• Exact character-level accuracy.
• Systematic application of taxonomy across pages.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.

Responsibilities

• Source Odia PDFs in assigned document types and record the source.
• Annotate structure: bound regions, component type, and reading-order index.
• Record relationships: link regions to their parent components (figures, tables).
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce Odia text exactly, flag illegible areas.
• Capture page metadata and perform peer reviews with another Odia expert.
