Job summary

Ocean Science Trust is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to lead OST’s day-to-day communications and shape how the organization is understood by funders, state leaders, scientific partners, and other priority audiences.

The role partners with the Director of Philanthropy to translate complex ocean science and policy work into compelling narratives, manage OST’s brand, and coordinate external messaging across website, email, and social channels.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible communications and public relations experience in science, policy, philanthropy, government, or nonprofit settings.

Responsibilities

• Steward OST’s external voice and reputation across audiences and channels.
• Translate complex scientific, policy, and organizational content for non-expert audiences.
• Lead donor and funder communications in collaboration with the Director of Philanthropy.
• Provide editorial direction and feedback on staff materials.
• Own OST’s website, email communications, and social media channels.
