About the unit

The Neurodiagnostic team is comprised of EEG Technologists, EEG Technicians and Neurodiagnostic Assistants. These individuals work together to set up patients with appropriate equipment, allowing for monitoring and recording of electrical activity of a patient’s brain waves. This in turn allows us to provide physicians proof of any brain abnormalities. The team provides support for Butterworth, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Blodgett, 25 Michigan and 35 Michigan.

Scope of Work

Performs electroneurodiagnostic and physiologic procedures, analysis of data from these procedures, and technical documentation for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Reviews, evaluates, maps, and classifies impressions of ictal, interictal, and paroxysmal events from EEG, physiologic, and video data. Writes technical report with detailed description of patient history, EEG patterns, seizure semiology, radiologic findings, physiologic findings, mapping of ictal and interictal abnormalities and selection of representative EEG and physiologic samples. Creates permanent video and/or file clips of mapped interictal and ictal patterns for physician review and archiving.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Associate’s Degree in related field
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in related field; graduate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program
  • 5 years of relevant experience 5 years of neurodiagnostic experience (preferably in LTME/critical care EEG) after obtaining ABRET registration in Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) Required
  • CRT-Electroencephalographic Technologist, Registered (R.EEG.T) – ABRET American Board of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Long Term Monitoring Technologist, Certified (CLTM) – ABRET American Board of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist 1 Year required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
