Newtown Savings Bank is seeking a Mortgage Processor II to join the Loan Origination Department in Newtown, CT. The role delivers high-quality loan processing by reviewing files for completeness and compliance with underwriting standards, acting as a liaison among borrowers, loan officers, and underwriters.

This position is remote after onboarding; however, candidates must reside within commuting distance to Newtown, CT and will visit the office for training and meetings.

Qualifications

• College degree or high school diploma required with 2-4 years of mortgage lending experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and solution oriented.
• Knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting process and loan documentation.
• Familiar with state and federal real estate lending laws (TIL, RESPA, HMDA, CRA).
• Microsoft Excel and Word skills required.

Responsibilities

• Process residential mortgage loans across programs per bank policies and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver excellent customer service through proactive communication with internal teams and customers.
• Analyze loan files for income, assets, and credit to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Submit loan files through automated underwriting systems (DU/LP).
• Maintain accurate data in loan origination systems to ensure data integrity.
• Use fraud detection tools to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
• Serve as primary contact for borrowers, employers, appraisal management companies, and attorneys to obtain and clear conditions.
• Follow up to ensure required documents are received and conditions cleared.
• Monitor loan pipeline to meet service levels and progress from application to closing.
• Collaborate with loan officers, underwriters, and closers to meet deadlines and standards.
• Identify risks and escalate appropriately; work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and support community presence through civic engagement.
