Job summary

Planet is seeking a software engineer for its Mission Control web-based platform, enabling spacecraft operators, analysts, and engineers to monitor and control Planet’s satellites. You will work on distributed microservices handling scheduling, telemetry, and tasking, aiming to minimize operational burden and automate satellite operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field; aerospace background is a plus.
2–3 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in Python programming and API design.
Experience with automated testing, code review, and documentation.
Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

Maintain and augment the automation and services responsible for satellite operation.
Specify and implement new HTTP APIs and improve existing ones.
Evaluate and choose appropriate software technologies.
Design and deploy critical infrastructure.
