Job summary

Planet is seeking a skilled software engineer to join the Mission Control team, building and operating web-based tools used by spacecraft operators and analysts. This full-time remote role supports the satellite fleet and involves designing, deploying, and maintaining services atop cloud infrastructure.

Based in Canada or the United States, the position offers collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities to contribute to automated workflows, testing, and CI/CD in a dynamic space

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Experience building services on cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
• Experience maintaining infrastructure with Ansible, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
• Experience in Python programming.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL).
• Attention to quality including automated testing, code review, and documentation.
• Experience with CI/CD and tooling like GitLab CI and Docker.
• Proficient Linux skills.
• Self-starter with strong communication in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and augment automation and services for satellites’ operation.
• Manage cloud-based infrastructure and tooling to meet internal needs and SLAs.
• Collaborate with Satellite, Ground Operations, Pipeline, and Product teams.
