Job summary

AIA Colorado is seeking a Mid-Level Interior Architect/Designer to join our DC-area practice remotely. The role focuses on retail, restaurant, and commercial projects, delivering design, documentation, and project delivery while coordinating with teams.

You will work on construction documents, code compliance, and permit processes, with opportunities to advance knowledge in project delivery and occupancy. A strong background in Revit and AutoCAD is preferred, along with regulatory familiarity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional in-office experience in commercial, retail, or restaurant design.
• Experience with construction documents and project delivery.
• Strong understanding of accessibility requirements and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project phases from programming through construction administration, ensuring deliverables meet schedule and budget requirements.
• Develop construction documents, specifications, and details in compliance with codes and regulations.
• Navigate zoning, building codes, and permit processes for commercial/mixed-use developments.
• Serve as primary project contact, managing client communications and expectations.
• Conduct site visits, review submittals, process RFIs, and coordinate with contractors to realize design intent.
• Review drawings and specifications to maintain standards and minimize issues.
• Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, and suppliers throughout project lifecycle.
