Job summary

Edgewater Federal Solutions, Inc. seeks a Microsoft Security Engineer to administer and monitor security controls across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Azure.

The role supports identity security, vulnerability remediation, and incident response in hybrid environments with potential on-site work in Frederick, MD. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in cybersecurity and hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and security analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Three or more years of cybersecurity, information security, systems administration, or security operations experience.
• Hands-on experience administering security controls in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, or Azure.
• Experience investigating alerts in Microsoft Defender and/or Microsoft Sentinel.
• Working knowledge of Conditional Access, MFA, endpoint protection, email security, and identity security concepts.
• Familiarity with vulnerability management, incident response, security monitoring, and cloud security practices.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell and basic Kusto Query Language.
• Ability to follow established standards, document work clearly, escalate when needed, and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer Entra ID security controls per approved standards.
• Support Conditional Access policies and MFA implementations.
• Assist with authentication investigations and Privileged Identity Management tasks.
• Monitor Defender tools and respond to security events.
• Coordinate remediation with IT and business owners.
• Maintain security baselines and posture improvements.
• Document procedures and assist with audits and evidence collection.
