Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Mergers & Acquisitions Counsel for a prestigious private equity firm. The role is fully remote in South Africa, supporting global M&A activity and advising on deal structures, due diligence, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead due diligence, draft and negotiate purchase and shareholder agreements, manage external counsel, and guide complex cross-border transactions from start to close.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 8 years post-qualification experience with a focus on M&A.
• Experience managing complex domestic and cross-border M&A deals.
• In-depth knowledge of corporate law, securities regulations, and transactional documentation.
• Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple high-value transactions remotely.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.

About the Role Our client, a prestigious private equity firm with a global reach, is seeking an experienced Remote Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Counsel to join their fully remote legal team. This role offers the unique opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa, providing critical legal support for the firm's extensive M&A activities. You will be responsible for managing all legal aspects of transactions, including due diligence, deal structuring, drafting and negotiating acquisition agreements, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
