Job summary

Cotopaxi is seeking a detail-oriented Merchandiser for a temporary contractor role from Oct 2026 to Apr 2027, starting with Assistant Merchant coverage across Apparel and Packs and progressing to Associate Director-level responsibilities. You’ll manage product data in Centric, support line planning, and coordinate go-to-market timelines with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of merchandising, product merchandising, or related role in apparel/outdoor/consumer products.
• Strong hands-on experience with Centric or a comparable PLM system and managing detailed product data.
• Highly analytical with a data-driven decision-making approach.
• Highly organized with strong project management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Creative entrepreneurial thinker who enjoys solving problems and challenging the status quo.
• Enjoys rolling up sleeves, balancing details with the bigger picture across functions.
• Collaborative communicator across Product Merchandising, Design, Planning, Sourcing, Sales and Marketing.
• Able to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment and to Cotopaxi’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Phase 1: Maintain product records in Centric and internal systems, including styling, pricing, and line sheets.
• Phase 1: Support seasonal line planning, assortment documentation, item setup, and lifecycle updates.
• Phase 1: Track samples and prepare materials for line reviews and merchant presentations.
• Phase 1: Support sales tools, product specs, and GTM materials.
• Phase 1: Compile sales reports and product performance recaps for insights.
• Phase 1: Serve as CX and product Questions contact, ensuring clear communication.
• Phase 1: Coordinate calendars and cross-functional touchpoints.
• Phase 2: Execute apparel category strategy, line plan updates, margin analysis, and SMUs.
• Phase 2: Lead apparel GTM with cross-functional partners and present concepts at meetings.
• Phase 2: Track in-season performance, support OTB management, and forecast at milestones.
