Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
• Assesses medical documents and assigns codes per guidelines.
• 1 year medical coder experience preferred; RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers.
• Review coding denials and resolve issues with claims.
• Abstract data and verify accuracy in the system.
• Respond to information requests and provide clarifications to providers and departments.
• Communicate improvement opportunities and coding issues to stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned by the department.
