Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in the United States is seeking a Strategic Medical Contract Leader to expand medical payer access for Optum Specialty Pharmacy through development, negotiation, implementation, and management of medical benefit contracts. This remote role supports strategic growth by identifying payer opportunities, driving contracting strategies, and increasing covered lives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in managed care, healthcare payer contracting, provider network management, or related field
• Experience negotiating and managing payer, provider, or healthcare-related contracts
• Experience with health plans, PBMs, employers, TPAs, provider orgs, or delivery systems
• Knowledge of medical/pharmacy benefit structures, reimbursement methods, and network access strategies
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to expand OSP participation with targeted medical payers and health plans
• Identify contracting opportunities using analytics, market intel, and revenue assessments
• Develop and execute strategies to increase patient access and improve reimbursement
• Lead negotiations, contract implementation, and ongoing payer relationship mgmt
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Account Management, Network Management, Legal, and Compliance
• Monitor contract performance and identify optimization opportunities
• Support growth by expanding medical payer access and diversification of payer portfolio
• Stay updated on market trends and competitive dynamics affecting specialty pharmacy access
