Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is hiring a Medical Director to provide physician support for Enterprise Clinical Services, focusing on pre-service benefit determinations and clinical coverage. You will collaborate with leadership to maintain processes for cost‑effective, high‑quality care while working remotely across the United States.

Requires M.D. or D.O., ABMS/AOA board certification with vascular surgery experience, and an unrestricted license.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with unrestricted medical license.
• Board certification in General Surgery with vascular surgery experience.
• Active unrestricted medical license.
• 5+ years of clinical practice after residency.
• Solid understanding of Evidence Based Medicine.
• Experience performing vascular surgeries and procedures.
• Willingness to participate in call coverage rotation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct coverage reviews based on member plan benefits and policies, render determinations.
• Document clinical review findings and outcomes per policy and regulatory requirements.
• Engage with requesting providers in peer-to-peer discussions as needed.
• Interpret and apply benefit language in clinical coverage reviews.
• Participate in daily clinical rounds.
• Communicate with network and non-network providers for timely determinations and education on policy.
