Job summary

Oscar Health is seeking a Medical Director, Scientific Affairs to provide strategic leadership to the Clinical Policy team and oversee policy lifecycle and clinical publishing. This role serves as a cross-functional scientific authority across the organization and reports to the Vice President, Clinical Affairs.

You will work fully remotely from the U.S. with occasional travel, and engage in evidence-based policy development, guideline review, and collaboration with executive leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in health policy or related fields.
• 6+ years clinical policy experience in health insurance, PBM, or similar.
• 4+ years in clinical policy drafting and development.
• 4+ years leading multidisciplinary clinical committees.
• 4+ years publishing in relevant fields.
• 3+ years communicating with executives and all levels.
• 3+ years of people management leadership.
• 1+ years of experience with medical coding terminologies (HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10).

Responsibilities

• Serve as evidence-based SME, translating clinical research into policy strategies.
• Lead research, development, revision, and accuracy of medical, UM, and pharmacy policies.
• Advise leadership on emerging therapies and population health trends using data-driven insights.
• Support development of clinical products via evidence-based research.
• Foster academic partnerships to advance and publish research.
• Lead systematic review of major guidelines to reflect standards of care.
• Oversee evidence grading framework for policies and literature quality.
• Coordinate Clinical Advisory Subcommittees and drive expert consensus.
• Partner with Pharmacy, Legal, and Compliance to align policies with NCQA/state/federal mandates.
• Support interactions with FDA, CMS, state DOIs as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
