Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Medical Director (Behavioral Health) for a remote-based role with a preference for Texas-residing candidates. You will provide medical leadership, oversee utilization management and behavioral health care delivery, and drive quality improvements across programs.

The role requires board-certified Psychiatry, Texas license or eligibility, and experience with managed care and policy development.

Qualifications

• Board-certified psychiatrist licensed to practice in Texas or eligible.
• Active medical license without encumbrances; ability to obtain other state licenses.
• Ability to provide UM coverage across multiple state health plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and day-to-day physician oversight for utilization management.
• Oversee behavioral health care management to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Participate in appeals, adverse events investigations, and quality concerns.
• Provide psychiatric leadership to an interdisciplinary UM team.
• Oversee high-risk cases and medical necessity decisions.
• Develop and evaluate clinical/medical programs and medical policy.
• Consult with behavioral health practitioners regarding complex patient care.
• Lead NCQA-compliant clinical quality improvement activities.
