Job summary

Optima Medical is an Arizona-based medical group seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. Training occurs onsite at our Scottsdale office, with a transition to fully remote work after up to 30 days, and applicants must reside in Arizona.

Responsibilities include reviewing and coding diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS, ensuring CMS compliance, and providing clear feedback to providers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required; CPC-A or CCA not accepted.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Experience with EHR systems, billing software, and MS Office.
• Arizona resident; must live in Arizona.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS guidelines and state/federal regulations.
• Provide precise, professional feedback to providers and team members.
• Assist with claim reviews, denials, and coding audits to improve revenue integrity.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
• Meet productivity and quality standards as required.
• Demonstrate strong written communication to improve coding accuracy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
