Job summary

Lifepoint Health is seeking a Medical Coding Quality Analyst to audit and educate coders, participate in RAC audits, and collaborate with the Centralized Coding Unit and PSRI vendors. The role supports coding accuracy across outpatient and inpatient settings.

Responsibilities include applying coding guidelines, assessing coder output, and developing client-specific processes. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus 5 years of coding/auditing experience and CPMA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 5 years medical abstract coding/auditing Pro-Fee experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in coding audit or quality review work.
• Auditing Certification through AAPC (CPMA) Required.
• Additional certifications (or eligibility): CPC, CEMC, CRC, CPB, CCS-P, RHIT.

Responsibilities

• Apply coding standards and guidelines to medical record documentation for accurate coding.
• Perform quality assessment of records (electronic and handwritten).
• Assess coders' work to ensure standards are met.
• Educate coders and staff on coding guidelines.
• Research errors or missing documentation to ensure accurate coding.
• Abstract and assign ICD-10, HCPCS/CPT codes including Level I & II modifiers.
• Develop and maintain processes for each client around system use and rules.
• Meet deadlines and collaborate with the Department Manager and team.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
