Job summary

Humana is seeking a Medical Coding Auditor to extract clinical information from medical records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with accuracy. The role supports outpatient coding audits and requires professional certification and experience.

This is a remote position with occasional travel for training or meetings. Typical hours are Monday–Friday with a 40-hour work week; ability to work independently and meet deadlines is essential.

Qualifications

• CPC, COC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification with a minimum of 3 years post-certification experience.
• Minimum of 2 years outpatient medical record auditing experience including knowledge of outpatient coding conventions and standards.
• Strong knowledge of NCD/LCDs, CMS Manual, NCCI Edits, and coding guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Interpret and determine appropriate courses of action for medical records.
• Audit outpatient records and apply CPT/ICD-10-CM coding.
• Maintain accuracy in coding and documentation.
