Job summary

Optima Dermatology is recruiting a Medical Assistant to join our Patient Care Team. The role is remote/hybrid and based in Portsmouth, NH, with opportunities across multiple states.

You will handle calls, scheduling, and patient support, while coordinating with providers and practices within scope of practice. You’ll need 2+ years in medical office settings, MA certification, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
• Certified, Registered, or licensed Medical Assistant with a combination of education and experience
• Maintains Medical Assistant certification with required CEUs
• 2 years’ experience in a medical office practice required
• Experience with ModMed (EMA) or similar EMR preferred
• Strong time management and ability to adjust priorities
• Knowledge of sales experience preferred
• Prior dermatology/medical aesthetics experience preferred
• Genuine interest in people; 2+ years customer service/patient support experience required
• Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Answer all back office incoming calls and voicemails for practices as needed
• Understand provider preferences, scheduling instructions; complete registrations and scheduling per procedures
• Assist patients with portal registration and forms; set appointment expectations
• Understand marketing efforts; support promotions to achieve appointment conversions
• Review pathology and lab results with patients per provider instructions
• Schedule office and procedure appointments; handle urgent visits as needed
• Phone prescriptions and refills to pharmacy; manage prior authorizations as directed
• Provide patient instructions verbally or in writing for post-care as needed
