Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Fully Remote Certified Pharmacy Technician to evaluate and authorize Medicaid prior authorization requests in a high-volume call center. The role requires documenting outcomes, communicating decisions to healthcare professionals, and working across multiple systems in a fully remote environment.

The position is a 1-year contract with potential extension or conversion, with 8-hour shifts, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active state pharmacy technician registration or license.
• National certification (PTCB or NHA) preferred.
• 1 year of retail or call center pharmacy experience; 3+ years preferred.
• Experience with prior authorization processes in pharmacy settings.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and authorize Medicaid prior authorization requests by phone using established clinical criteria.
• Communicate PA decisions to physicians, office staff, and pharmacists.
• Document all outcomes accurately in the pharmacy system.
• Explain PA criteria and formulary alternatives to prescribers.
• Escalate complex cases to a pharmacist per procedures.
