Job summary

Humane World for Animals is seeking an Intern for the Media Relations department. The remote internship runs roughly Sep 28, 2026 to Dec 18, 2026 and pays $18.55 per hour for about 20 hours per week.

You will support media outreach, content development and campaigns in a nonprofit setting. You will draft social media content, press materials and other media content, identify media contacts, assist with reporter outreach and help analyze reach while collaborating with a diverse communications

Qualifications

• Pursuing or graduated in media relations, public relations or communications preferred.
• Volunteer or internship experience with a nonprofit or animal advocacy organization preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Attention to detail; self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Must meet one of: enrolled as student or recent graduate within two years; or service member within two years.

Responsibilities

• Track media coverage.
• Conduct reporter research.
• Draft and route content for our X.com account, Humane World News.
• Draft, edit and distribute media advisories, news releases, op-eds, letters to the editor and other press materials.
• Assist the department with data collection and analytics to expand media reach.
• Proofread the CEO's blog.
