Job summary

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) seeks a Communications – Media and Publications Intern for Fall 2026. This remote internship, based in New York, supports media relations, online communications, and research and publications as part of PHR’s communications team.

The intern will attend meetings, participate in learning events, and receive career mentoring. PHR offers stipends; the amount will be determined by hours worked and discussed during interview.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in communications, journalism, international relations, or related major.
• Interest in nonprofit communications work.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication; organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Responsibilities

• Track relevant news stories on human rights issues.
• Research, write, proofread, and copy-edit social media, blog posts, web content, and newsletters.
• Run reports to track website traffic and online ad campaigns.
• Track PHR’s media coverage and compile media lists.
• Research journalists and outlets related to PHR’s work.
