Job summary

Tate Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and improve mechanical systems supporting manufacturing and product performance. You will apply engineering principles to create efficient, reliable, and manufacturable solutions while aiding cost reductions and continuous improvement.

Reporting to Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with operations, quality, and supply chain teams across Columbia, MD, Glasgow, KY, or remote work to deliver robust engineering outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with product development, testing, and validation processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ownership of material flow ensuring timely delivery to production and warehouse locations.
  • Move raw materials, components, and finished goods using appropriate handling equipment.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks, storage areas, and production lines.
  • Stage materials for production orders based on scheduling and operational requirements.
  • Ensure proper labelling, identification, and storage of all materials and inventory items.
  • Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to support design decisions.
  • Identify root causes of product or equipment issues and develop corrective solutions.
  • Support manufacturing teams with technical guidance and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design and production challenges.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
